A very interesting thing happened to David in 1 Samuel 16. As the prophet Samuel was considering which of Jesse’s sons would be anointed the next king, he realized that none of the first seven were the one. Samuel asked Jesse do you have any more sons and he said just one David who was out tending the sheep. Samuel told Jesse to get him. When David arrived 1 Samuel 16:13 tells us “So as David stood there among his brothers, Samuel took the flask of olive oil he had brought and anointed David with the oil. And the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David from that day on. “
I hope you see what happened here. As David stood among all of his older brothers, the Lord validated David. David was out doing his job watching the sheep. He was on his assignment, doing it well, not even thinking about what Samuel was doing and in the middle of that God anointed him king. God validated David.
So often we try to prove ourselves to others or at least we think we have to.
Here is some good news you don’t. You don’t have to prove how anointed, gifted or called you are. All you have to do is function in the role God has called you to and he will validate you. If you are anointed to do something, don’t tell me or anyone else for that matter, just do it. Don’t prove to me you are anointed, just be anointed. As you do this and as you walk in your purpose God will let others know that you are the one for the job. The good news is when God validates you there is no one on the face of the earth who can ever undo it. I encourage you to be what God has called you to be and stop worrying about what people think about it. I promise you’ll be glad you did.
